The Witch is an ominous story about early settlers in America and the darkness that hides in the forests. For a horror movie, it did not possess the common scare tactics but gave the viewer a sense of mystery and a feeling that something is watching you be. As a religious family moves into the untamed woods, they are visited by the witch and the plot intensifies quickly. The power of prayer seemed to do nothing for the family which perhaps showcased a larger complication with religion when compared to brute forces despite this being a fictional movie. The movie left me reeling from the decisions that had taken place and despite not scaring me, I would definitely recommend a watch!
