Based upon a true story, Lion is the heart wrenching story of a boy who gets separated from his family and his journey to find his home and in the process his identity. This film is beautifully directed and the cinematography is astounding. It shows the struggles of living on the poverty line and the ways in which people make their livings in rural India which hit a chord with me. The contrast of life and the kindness of humans is showcased and explored on screen which ignited a feeling of humbleness within me. With the advent of technology, Saroo was able to retrace his tumultuous train journey back to his hometown and it was nothing short of a miracle. Having embraced the bond with his identity, Lion makes us ponder on the nature of our true reality and origins. Watch it and you won’t be disappointed!
